Jacksonville Beach, FL is a great place to visit and an even better place to call home. Jacksonville, FL is known for its amazing parks and recreation facilities and that reputation is paralleled in Jacksonville Beach.

One of the parks in Jacksonville Beach, FL is known as the Oceanfront Park. It's located between 5th and 6th Avenues South on 1st Street. It's a hidden gem frequented by the neighbors and beach residents and is considered an insider secret. There is plenty of parking in this 2 Acre sprawl which is rare for the beach. There are two beach entrances at the North and South ends of the beach. It's a really great place to picnic as they have four sun shaded picnic areas that are on the outskirts a circular brick pavered walkway. As you stroll the walkway you can enjoy educational kiosks and admire the Sea Express, a statue by sculptress, Kristen Visbal, of a young boy riding a dolphin. The Sea Express symbolizes the Jacksonville Beach, Fl communities mission to preserve beach access for future generations.

If you're looking for some exercise for the little ones, there is a great sand volley ball court (which always can double as a sandbox), climbing dome and several sea life statues for exploring, climbing and riding. It's a great alternative to going beachside if the ocean is too chilly as you still get to enjoy the ocean breezes, smell the salt air and enjoy the outdoors.

Many exercise groups meet here for yoga, boot camp, stroller workouts and personal training. It's a great place to walk your dog (FYI Jacksonville Beach, FL allows dogs on the beach from 5pm to 9am). I've witnessed many joggers stopping for stretching entry to the beach along including this as a great place to transition from pavement to sand and vice versa. The only thing that's missing other than a clean bathroom (there is a portalet) is a shower. So remember to bring your powder bags or a jug of water to get the sand off before you head home.
